선교지에서 유치원??

선교지에서 유치원이나 초등학교 사역이 복음전파와는 거리가 멀다고 느끼셧다면 (저를 비롯해) 그렇지 않습니다.

태굴출신 죠 형제님은 지난 크리스마스에 세례를 받으며 기나긴 여정 끝에 드디어 구원에 이르럿읍니다. 형제님의 부모님은 아들을 선교사 초등학교에 입학시킬때 하나님의 손길임을 모르셨을 겁니다. 단지 좋은 교육이 목적이었겠지요. 어린나이에 예수님에 관해 듣고 하나님이 계심을 쉽게 받아드렸지요. 믿음좋은 아내를 주셨을때 거부감없이 교회로 나오게 되고, 어느 선교사와의 기적같은 만남을 통해 예수님을 영접하기까지는 거의 50년이 흘렀읍니다.
지금 형제님은 성경공부에 매진함은 물론 이미 선교에 까지 관심을 가지게 됐읍니다. 아래는 캐이트 자매님의 남편 죠 형제님의 간증 입니다.

If you feel that kindergarten or elementary school ministry in the mission field is a bit distant from spreading the gospel (me included), that is not the case.

Brother Joe was baptized last Christmas and finally reached salvation after a long journey. His parents probably did not know that it was God’s provident hand when they enrolled their son in the missionary elementary school. They probably only wanted a good education. Joe heard about Jesus at a young age and easily accepted our almighty God. When he was blessed a wife with good faith, he came to church without any resistance, and almost 50 years passed until he accepted Jesus through a miraculous encounter with a missionary.
Now, he is devoted to studying the Bible and has already become interested in missions. Below is the testimony of Brother Joe, Kate Park’s husband.

저는 태국에서 태어났습니다. 태국은 대부분 사람들이 불교를 믿습니다. 저는 사랑많고 친절한 부모님과 다섯 명의 형제 자매가 있는 가정에서 태어나 축복을 받았습니다. 우리는 항상 좋은 도덕적 가치에 따라 사는 것을 믿었습니다. 저는 유치원부터 6학년까지 카톨릭 학교에서 공부하는 동안 처음으로 예수와 기독교에 대해 배웠습니다. 태국에서 저는 불교에 대해서도 배웠는데, 저에게는 불교가 주로 이 세상에서 좋은 사람으로 사는 방법에 대한 것입니다. 하지만 저는 항상 제 삶이 오늘날의 저를 이끄신 하나님의 인도하심을 받았고 앞으로도 계속 인도하실 것이라고 믿습니다. 저는 하나님이 늘 저를 기독교로 인도해 오셨다고 느낍니다.

나이가 들면서 저는 하나님이 제 삶의 다양한 도전을 통해 저를 인도해 주셨다는 것을 깨닫고 그분에 대한 믿음이 더 강해졌습니다. 제 인생의 많은 장애물이 극복되었고, 또 잠재적인 어려움도 하나님이 항상 저와 함께 계시고 저를 올바른 길로 인도해 주실 것이라는 믿음과 기도를 통해 피할 수 있었습니다.

저는 믿음이 독실한 배우자를 만난 것이 축복입니다. 제 딸도 같은 강한 믿음으로 평생 하나님의 보살핌을 받을 수 있어서 기쁩니다.

2024년부터 저는 새로운 교회에서 주일 예배에 참석하고 있습니다. 저는 김 목사님의 예배가 영어 통역이 있어서 감사하게 생각하며, 그 덕분에 성경의 가르침을 더 잘 배우고 이해할 수 있었습니다. 저는 교회에서 친절하고 사려 깊은 많은 형제 자매들을 만나며 교제 합니다. 우리는 함께 기도하고 하나님에 대한 공통된 믿음을 통해 서로를 돌봅니다.

9월에 이은상 선교사님의 미얀마내전으로 부모를 잃은 어린이들에게 믿음과 희망을 심어주는 감동적인 선교간증을 들었습니다. 그 열정과 사랑의 모습은 하나님이 우리를 향한 동일한 사랑이며, 우리가 삶에서 다른 사람들에게 사랑을 나누기를 바라심을 보여주었습니다. 선교사님과 더 많은 대화를 나누면서 저는 예수님이 우리의 유일한 구세주이며, 우리를 죄에서 구원하기 위해 자신의 생명을 희생하셨다는 것을 이해하고 믿게 되었습니다.

대이빗 장 전도사님이 성경의 핵심 교리를 설명하여 세례를 준비하도록 도와주셨고, 시간이 지나면서 성경의 가르침을 더 깊이 이해하도록 저를 계속 인도해 주셔서 감사합니다.

저는 좋은 그리스도인이 되고자 합니다. 하나님과 더 깊은 관계를 추구하며 성경의 가르침을 일상생활에 실천하고자 합니다. 저는 하나님께서 제게 주신 삶의 목적을 이해하고 다른 사람들에게 하나님의 말씀을 전파하여 그들도 구원받고 그리스도인처럼 믿음과 행복과 기쁨을 누릴 수 있도록 제 역할을 다하고자 합니다.

저는 지금 6주 성경공부 수업에 등록하여 하나님의 말씀에 대한 이해를 쌓아갑니다. 이를 통해 그분에 대한 믿음을 지속적으로 키울 수 있을 것입니다. 저는 미얀마와 같이 불우한 나라의 사람들이 삶에서 어려움과 고통에 대처하면서 하나님에 대한 믿음을 쌓을 수 있도록 하나님의 말씀과 사랑을 전파하는 교회의 선교 활동에 참여하는 것도 고려하고 있습니다.

I was born in Thailand, a country where a majority of the people have Buddhism as their religion. I am blessed to be born into a family with loving and kind parents and five other siblings. We always believe in living according to good moral values. I first learned about Jesus and Christianity during my study at a Catholic school from kindergarten to the sixth grade. In Thailand, I was also taught about Buddhism, which, to me, is primarily about a way of living as a good person in this earthly life. I however always have a belief that my life has been guided by God who has led me to become the person I am today and will continue to guide my life into the future. I feel that God has been guiding me towards Christianity over time.

As I become older, I have developed a stronger faith in God as I realize that He has guided me through various challenges in my life. Many of my life obstacles have been overcome and potential mishaps have been averted through my prayers and my belief that God is always with me and that He will lead me down the right path. It’s my blessing that I have met my spouse who is a devout Christian. I am glad that my daughter shares the same belief and that she will be watched over by God throughout her life. Starting this year, I have been attending the Sunday service at the Saeroun church. I have been grateful that Pastor Kim’s service has English translation, which has made it possible for me to learn and gain a better understanding of the teaching in the Bible. I have met and developed fellowship with many kind and caring brothers and sisters at the church. We pray together and care for each other through our common faith in God. In September, I was moved by Pastor Lee who visited the church to talk about her mission in Myanmar, which helps build faith and hope of children who suffer from a loss of their parents to internal wars in the country. Such act of passion and kindness really showed me a similar kind of love God has for us and how He wants us to share our love to others in our lives. My further discussion with her made me understand and come to believe that Jesus is our only Savior, who sacrificed His life to save us from our sins. I am grateful that Pastor Chang helped prepare me for my baptism with an overview of the key tenets in the Bible and that he is willing to continue to guide me as I aim to gain a deeper understanding of the teaching in the Bible over time.

As I aim to become a good Christian, I aspire to develop a stronger relationship with God and practice the teaching in the Bible in my daily life. I intend to understand the purpose of my life that God has given me and do my part to spread the word of God to others so that they too can be saved and have faith, happiness and joy in their lives like Christians do.

I am signing up for a Bible study class offered by the church to deepen my understanding of God’s word, which will help me continually grow my faith in Him. I am considering participating in the church’s missions to help spread God’s word and love to help people in underprivileged countries, such as Myanmar, build their faith in God as they cope with challenges and suffering in life.
